Enter a site address below to check it against WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA, all 55 success criteria. The scan runs in a real browser, so it measures what a visitor gets: computed names, contrast, focus, layout at 320 pixels wide and more. It’s free for 10 pages with no account, and every issue comes with the fix and the criterion it breaks.
How the check works
- It crawls the site and chooses pages by template, not by their web address, so one page of each kind is tested rather than a thousand copies of it.
- It measures each page in a browser: the names Chromium computes for controls, contrast from computed styles, Tab order and visible focus, a 320-pixel layout, text spacing and content that moves.
- It reads what a person would: whether a label, error message or alt text means what it should, in any language.
- It reports every result as fail, pass or incomplete. A criterion it couldn’t decide is never shown as a pass.
New in WCAG 2.2
WCAG 2.2 added 6 Level A and AA criteria to 2.1, covering focus that isn’t hidden, dragging alternatives, target size, consistent help, redundant entry and accessible sign-in (W3C (opens in a new tab)). Read what changed, or browse every criterion with how each is checked and fixed.

Questions
Which WCAG version does this checker use?
WCAG 2.2, the current W3C Recommendation since October 5, 2023, at Levels A and AA: 55 success criteria, 6 of them new in 2.2.
Can a tool check every WCAG criterion automatically?
No. Some criteria depend on judgment, such as whether alt text describes its picture, and some depend on media or on data a visitor can't see. BearScan checks what it can in the browser, uses language and vision models for what text and images mean, and lists whatever it could not decide as incomplete instead of passing it.
Is there a WCAG checker for a whole website?
Yes. WAVE and Lighthouse check one page at a time. BearScan crawls the site and picks pages by template, so a free account covers up to 100 pages and a report up to 1,000.
