Terms of service

Last updated October 14, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Thybris Labs, which runs BearScan. By using BearScan you agree to them. If you use it for a company, you’re agreeing for that company.

What BearScan is, and isn’t

BearScan scans websites for accessibility and privacy problems and reports what it found and what it couldn’t check. A report is information, not legal advice, and it isn’t a certification that a site complies with any law. Automated scanning can’t find every problem, which is why each report lists what needs a person to check. Whether a site complies is a question for you and, if you need one, your lawyer.

Only scan sites you’re allowed to

Scan sites you own or have permission to test. Don’t use BearScan to overload a site, to get around a site’s access controls, or to break any law. We may limit or refuse scans that look like abuse.

Accounts

You don’t need an account for a free scan. If you create one, keep access to your email and Google account secure, since that’s how you sign in. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.

Payment

Prices are in US dollars, per site, and shown before you pay. Stripe processes payments.

  • Free scans. Without an account, a scan checks up to 10 pages. A free account scans one site in full (the first it scans in full), up to 100 pages a scan and a few full scans a day; its other sites get the 10-page preview. Free scans list each issue and the pages it’s on.
  • One report is a one-time purchase for one site: $49, with every check included. It adds each issue’s detail (the element, what’s wrong, the fix and a prompt for your coding agent) and a PDF, scans up to 1,000 pages, and includes reruns of that site for 48 hours so you can check your fixes. Scans after that window show the issue list again; a new report opens another window. Nothing renews.
  • Monitoring is a subscription for one site: $29 a month or $228 a year, with every check included and the full report on every scan. It renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price you signed up for, until you cancel. We’ll email you before any price change applies to you.

Cancelling and refunds

  • Cancelling. Cancel any time: cancel or manage billing opens Stripe’s billing page. Monitoring keeps running until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then stops; there’s no charge after that and no partial refund for the rest of the period.
  • Refunds. If a paid scan fails, or the report isn’t what we described, email hello@bearscan.app within 14 days of your first payment and we’ll refund it in full. The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, and usually arrives within 5 to 10 business days of our reply.

Background checks

For sites in your account, we run a scan about once a week in the background: a full scan with Monitoring, and a smaller one after your free reruns on a one-time report have ended. We email you when one finds something new. You can turn these checks off for any site on its page, and unsubscribe from the emails with the link in each one.

Lawsuit tracker posts

If you post to the lawsuit tracker, only post what’s true and what you’re allowed to share. Don’t post anyone’s personal information. You let us publish your post and keep it in the tracker; we may edit out identifying details or remove a post. Uploaded evidence is used to verify the post and isn’t published.

Our content

Your reports are yours to use however you like, including handing them to your developers or an AI agent. The BearScan software, rule catalog and site belong to Thybris Labs.

Other companies’ names and logos on our site belong to them. ChatGPT and the OpenAI logo are trademarks of OpenAI; BearScan isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.

No warranty

BearScan is provided as it is. We work to make it accurate, but we don’t promise it will find every problem, that it will always be available, or that fixing what it reports will prevent a claim against you.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, Thybris Labs isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, including a claim or lawsuit about your site. Our total liability for anything related to BearScan is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending this agreement

You can stop using BearScan and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.

Changes

If these terms change, we’ll update the date at the top and email account holders about anything significant before it applies. See also our privacy policy. Questions: hello@bearscan.app.

BearScan reports what an automated scan found and what it couldn’t check. It isn’t legal advice and doesn’t certify compliance.

Questions? Ask us.

  • Is the scan really free?

Yes. 10 pages with no account and no card, and up to 100 pages of one site with a free account. You see every problem and where it is. The full report, with each fix and a PDF, is $49.

  • Does BearScan change my website?

No. It opens your pages in a browser the way a visitor would and reports what it finds. Nothing is installed on your site, and it never places an order, signs up or sends your contact forms.

  • Will this make my site ADA compliant?

No tool can promise that, and one that does is misleading you. The scan finds the problems demand letters point to and tells you how to fix them; the report also says what it couldn't check, so you know what still needs a person.

  • What's in the paid report?

For every issue: the page, the exact element, why it fails, how to fix it and a prompt you can hand to a developer or an AI coding tool, plus a PDF. Rescans are free for 48 hours so you can check your fixes.

Something else? A person reads every message and replies by email.
