WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.3.7, Redundant Entry, is a Level A requirement: information already entered is not asked for again.
Read the criterion in the W3C Recommendation, WCAG 2.2 (opens in a new tab).
How BearScan checks it
Information already entered is not asked for again
Checked automatically: reads the HTML. Severity: medium. Re-entering an address or account number is error-prone and tiring for users with memory or motor impairments, and a frequent reason they abandon multi-step forms.
An approximation: Each form's fields are read in order by a decisions model (TypeSafe's Jev) for any that ask again for something an earlier field of the same form already asked (a confirm-email box, a second copy of an address) without a checkbox offering to reuse it; 80% or more fails. A password confirmation is exempt. Repetition across the steps of a process is not visible without completing a step, which the scan never does, so a page that is one step of a multi-step process and repeats nothing within itself is reported for review with that reason.
How to fix it. Prefill or offer to reuse information the user already gave in the same process (a 'billing same as shipping' option, a carried-forward email), except where re-entry is essential such as confirming a new password.

Questions
Is WCAG 3.3.7 required by the ADA?
The ADA doesn't name a technical standard for businesses. 3.3.7 was added in WCAG 2.2, so it isn't part of WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the version the Justice Department's 2024 rule adopted for state and local governments. WCAG 2.2 has been the current W3C Recommendation since October 5, 2023.
Can an automated tool check WCAG 3.3.7?
Mostly. BearScan checks it automatically (reads the HTML). A clean result still isn't proof every page passes, only the pages scanned.
How do I fix a WCAG 3.3.7 failure?
Prefill or offer to reuse information the user already gave in the same process (a 'billing same as shipping' option, a carried-forward email), except where re-entry is essential such as confirming a new password.
